6/1/08: SPECIAL NEWS BULLETIN FOR TRACK PROMOTERS, PLEASE CLICK HERE! At the request and support of various race tracks, manufacturers and service providers, RacingSafer.com has now become a reality. The goal of RacingSafer.com is to provide racers with the knowledge to make better decisions in regards to their personal safety and elevated safety at the track. This site is going to be a continually growing 'work in progress.' Racing is an inherently dangerous sport. But each and every year both safety equipment & chassis manufacturers continue to make advancements that allow drivers the opportunity to conduct their racing safer. But ultimately, the majority of responsibility of the driver's personal safety, is at the hands of the driver themselves. Many sanctioning bodies and tracks 'encourage' drivers to take advantage of the highest quality products that are available, but in some cases don't enforce use of them due to potential legal implications. So again it's up to you, the driver, to make yourself as knowledgeable as possible, and to make the right choices when it comes to your personal safety. And to help kick off the launch of the effort, we are going to hold a RacingSafer.com Driver Safety Seminar on January 26, 2008. The event will be held at the beautiful K-Star Ranch in Mansfield (D/FW), TX from 6pm-8pm. The keynote speaker at the event will feature the Sales Manager of Simpson Race Products, Tina Creswell. Tina has worked at Simpson Racing Products for 10 years and has 12 years of auto and sprint car racing experience. In addition, FASTT Motorsports Rescue (Fire and Safety Team of Texas) will speak on how to provide a safer environment for drivers, crews and fans at the track. The FASST rescue truck, called 'Rescue 1' carries a full complement of rescue equipment including hydraulic rescue tools (jaws of life), saws-alls, hand tools and jacks for vehicle stabilization. In addition to all of the rescue equipment, the truck is outfitted with numerous fire extinguishers as well as an on-board system that provides foam capabilities for larger fires. To meet the medical needs of the drivers FASST also carries life support equipment. That allows them to begin stabilization of the driver as they are extricated from the wrecked car. FASTT have worked several tracks and covered events ranging from ASCS sprint cars to USMTS modified races. Team members have received training from the NHRA as well as other organizations with regard to track safety. Each member has hundreds of hours of training in fire suppression, rescue and emergency medicine. Most recently the team was invited to cover testing sessions for Indy cars in November 2007. The new artwork has been completed for the RacingSafer.com banner that will be displayed at the event. If you'd like to see it, just click this link: www.darinshort.com/banner.html and it will open in a new window. We have also received some great prizes that will be awarded during the evening to the seminar attendees. Included in the prizes will be the latest fuel cell product from RCI that All American Motorsports will have on display at the Texas Racer's Auction. In addition, Greg Dinsmore and the DrinkAzul.com/Harris Auto Racing modified team will be awarding a Fire Tech system to one of seminar attendees. The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum will also be awarding one lucky attendee with a Team Membership to the HoF. Smiley's Racing Products will also award a fire suppression system to one of the Seminar attendees, so thank you to Smiley's for their contribution. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Ryan Bard foundation and to continuing education events for driver safety.
