It's time for an other installment of The Update, which is the latest news and happenings of
DarinShort.com web and Direct Marketing clients.
A lot of you from across the country seem to like these occasional updates (by the emails I've
received), so I'll try to update a few times each year.
There's a lot that's been happening, so to catch you all up with the latest, let's jump right in:
First off www.WayneLarsonCollision.com is getting ready to celebrate their 32nd Anniversary Open
House and Classic Car Show in Ames, IA. This show continues to grow, and is a lot of free fun for
central Iowa residents. To check out their site and for more Show info, just click on their link.
www.OtherMothers.org is an animal shelter in Portland, OR; and has received such overwhelming
response from their online exposure, that they are currently 'sold out' of adoptable pets. OM’s
owner, Linda Caradine, assures me that they will have more adoptable pets available soon. And her
personal rescued pet, Rudy, has gained a lot of notoriety in Portland social circles, and has recently
appeared on TV. To read Rudy's story, check out their site.
Joining The Update list is www.JeffsPerformance.com, located in Sherman, TX. Company owner, Jeff
Hill, was looking to revamp their online and offline presence and chose DarinShort.com for its needs.
You can also find Jeff's new ads within Inside IMCA, if you are an IMCA member. If you're looking for
hi-performance racing engines, look no further than Jeff's.
Rodd Hanna's Air Performance of Rockwall, TX is running on all eight cylinders this time of the year,
installing new A/C units all over the eastern section of the Metroplex. Rodd also owns a sprint car
team that competes at various tracks in the region. You can visit them online, and their race team, by
clicking www.AirPerformanceAC.com .
Plano, TX dentist, Richard M. Spence's ( www.SpenceDDS.com ) continues to provide area families
and business professionals with industry leading dental solutions. When Dr. Spence first came to
DarinShort.com, the first project was to create and activate a brand and identity for his practice. The
animated fictional 'Dr. Spence' created by DarinShort.com can now be seen in all of their print, web
and out-of-home advertising; helping to bring a sense of 'calm' when patients prepare for their visit.
Also new to The Update, is www.AMPSeries.com of Alexander, AR. The Day Motorsports AMP Series
by American Racer Tire is a new Late Model division racing series that travels throughout the state
of Arkansas, plus the outlying areas. The AMP Series has three races under their belt in 2007, and in
two of them were greeted by record crowds. The AMP Series has a double header coming up in two
weeks, so Series officials are keeping busy getting preregistrations and conducting pre-promotions.
The world has literally been turned upside down this season at www.sam15.com as they’ve joined the
World of Outlaws sprint series. Driver Sam Hafertepe Jr. has been racing since the beginning of the
season with them, and has done an unbelievable job. He’s currently 18th in WoO points, and had an
11th place finish at Lernerville Speedway last night in Sarver, PA. Sam’s new apparel is also a hit, and
you can check it out at the team’s site.
Minot, ND’s www.DakotaTrackSide.com is starting their third season of business and servicing
several race tracks with top of the line Larson Racing chassis and components. They also feature
Awesome Racewear’s nomex suits with the sublimated designs, therefore eliminating the need for
embroidering on race suits.
And competing out of the Dakota Track Side shop, is Minot’s Wyatt Olson. AKA www.wo57.com , Wyatt
has a new Larson Racing chassis in the modified division this year, and it sounds like they’ve really
got it hooked up. ‘Wyatt’s World’ is where you can find the latest news directly from the driver. They’
re also getting ready to unveil their 2007 racing apparel soon, so make sure to get yours!
www.CowtownSpeedway.com of Kennedale, TX is also new to The Update. After I worked with long-
time racer and track promoter Bo Rawdon on race track consulting for the Speedway, they have now
turned to DarinShort.com in 2007 for a new online look and enhancing their web exposure and direct
marketing. New for 2007 at Cowtown is the availability of purchasing tickets to their weekly events as
well as purchasing track apparel online.
Mansfield, TX’s, www.RonnyCook.com has a beautiful Larson Racing modified and competes regularly
at Cowtown Speedway. Ronnie’s had some tough luck this year, but has been quick every time out.
Make sure to stop and say hello to him if you ever see him at the track. Ronny’s a super nice person
and a pleasure to work with, and is the owner of Auto Doctor in Mansfield.
That leads us to the Paul Cook Racing teammates of www.GlenHibbard.com of Euless, TX and Ft.
Worth’s George White ( www.pcr10.com ). Both drivers have been tearing up the tracks this season
with strong performances. George has new apparel coming out next month while Glen has some
potential exciting news coming down the pipeline.
After selling out his complete modified operation at the end of the 2006 racing season, www.2larson.
com , or Adam Larson of Ames, IA, has joined the late model ranks and has debuted a new Rocket
Chassis by Larson Racing for 2007. Adam picked up a heat race victory the first race ever in a late
model. So it would appear he’s going to be tough on the competition this season. Adam also has new
apparel that will be hitting his site in the next couple of days, and you’ll be able to purchase it at his
site with PayPal.
Next up is another Cowtown Speedway regular in the sprint division, www.cwb15.com , which is
Rockwall TX’s Wayne Brown. Wayne is coming off of a strong 4th place finish this past Saturday night
in the feature race with a 2nd place finish in the heat race. At his site, you’ll find Wayne’s recap,
called ‘Wayne’s Wanderings’ that will keep you up on all of the latest news.
www.WarheadGrafix.com of Ft. Worth, TX has been knocking out great looking vinyl graphics for
many of the racers throughout the Southwest. The site is current with the latest looks for many of
their customers. They’ve also expanded into helmet graphics, woops, I mean grafix in Warhead’s
case. To check them out, visit their site. Warhead also helped sponsor the DarinShort.com Classic
Bomber event at Cowtown Speedway a few weeks back.
And Warhead company owner, www.KevinRamey.com , competes in the ASCS Sprint Car Series.
Kevin started off the 2007 season in style by winning the first ASCS race of the season at Cowtown by
topping the other 42 drivers in the field with a big win over Travis Rilat.
Breda, IA’s Brian Blessington, or www.92b.com , season can be summarized by two words: rained out.
92B is used to racing about 100 nights per season (for real!). But so far, they’ve only got in about 10
nights. 92B’s wife, Liz, does an amazing job recapping every night’s action, and there’s quick links on
their home page to the 2007 and past year’s results. Stay tuned for what’s sure to be another wild
season of IMCA Stock Car Racing by the 2006 runner-up in IMCA National Points.
Also new to The Update is www.RaceWrapz.com out of Cabot, AR. Company owners Ken & Jeremy
Murphy recently expanded their vinyl graphics services by offering complete vinyl wraps. For
outrageous designs, you need to check them out, and you can join their email club which keeps you
in the loop for the latest at Race Wrapz.
Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore TX, is now East Texas Motor Speedway ( www.ETMSpeedway.com ).
The new owner, Jack Sanderson, has had a tough go of it so far. After taking over speedway
operations, they intended on opening the track to East Texas drivers and fans this spring. After
getting deep into the modernization process, they’ve found severe problems with the electrical
system, and they have yet to open. Hopefully good news will be coming from them, so the track
reopening can occur.
I-30 Speedway’s track promoter, Tracey Clay, has teamed up with DarinShort.com for various
marketing projects over the past few years. This year, we’re pleased to announce that O’Reilly Auto
Parts has signed on as title sponsor to one of the biggest sprint car races of the season, the Short
Track Nationals at I-30 Speedway. Held this year on October 23-25, the STN will draw the top teams in
sprint car racing from nearly 20 states. For nonstop action at arguably one of the Nation’s top sprint
car events, mark your calendars today.
Also at this year’s STN, will be the inaugural Comp Cams Challenge. After pitching this concept to
Tracey, she fully supported the idea, and we’re excited to bring Comp Cams on as exclusive sponsor
of the event. The Comp Cams Challenge will give one driver the opportunity to pocket an additional
$25,000 – making their weekend total over $45,000. For more Comp Cams Challenge info, visit the link
above and for the absolute leader in valve train technology visit www.compcams.com .
Another new addition to The Update, is 16 year old sprint car driving prodigy Kathryne Minter ( www.
mint13.com ) out of Bedford, TX. Or as team publicist Richard Day would summarize: “She’s as quick
as a cat and sweeter than peppermint.” Kathryne is competing in the ASCS Sprint division, and
recently finished 14th at the Cowtown ASCS event, which hosted 42 other drivers. This driver is
definitely the ‘real deal,’ and be watching for her to race at your local track – as they have an
expansive 2007 schedule. To check the team schedule, or to read Kathryne’s race recap ‘Kat’s
Korner,’ please go to www.mint13.com .
And finally, at DarinShort.com you can see there’s been no lack of excitement, by reading the above.
DarinShort.com is also an approved member for Industry consulting, through Standard and Poor’s
Society of Industry Leaders as well as endorsed by Yahoo Small Business for Client web design
services.
Finally, I would like to thank every one in the DarinShort.com family of web and direct marketing
clients. It’s been strange not having an ‘official’ job the past few years, but I wouldn’t trade these
experiences for anything. If you feel that someone you know can benefit from the services offered at
DarinShort.com, please have them contact me.
The Update will return later this year. Until then, have a great - and safe - summer!
